What to check
Before you buy, identify how you will actually use the product and which trade-offs you can accept. Comparing only the price or appearance often leads to a poor fit.
Layout and language
Choose the layout for the language you type in: Italian, German and US ANSI variants place symbols and the Enter key differently. A 60%, TKL or full-size board also changes access to shortcuts and a numpad.
Switch feel and noise
Linear switches typically feel smooth; tactile ones have a bump; clicky ones add an audible click. Switch type alone does not predict noise—case, keycaps and desk also matter.
Key height
Keycap height and desk placement affect wrist posture. A wrist rest does not automatically fix an awkward setup; desk height, chair position and keyboard tilt matter too.
Connectivity
For a fixed desk, wired connection is simple and needs no charging. For multiple computers, check Bluetooth, receiver support and how device switching actually works.
Repairability and parts
Hot-swap models may let you replace compatible switches without soldering, but compatibility varies. Check switch and keycap replacements plus warranty before choosing.
Questions to ask before buying
- Will it work with my devices?
- Which features will I genuinely use?
- What is the total cost including accessories?
- Can I verify the warranty and return conditions?
Final tip: compare at least two options against your own priorities, verify current details on the seller’s site, and do not base your decision on one review alone.
